Understanding Our Pet Policy: Service Dogs Welcome at CampMD
At CampMD, we strive to provide a welcoming environment for all our guests, including those who rely on service animals. We understand the importance of service dogs in assisting individuals with disabilities, and we are committed to ensuring that everyone can enjoy their stay comfortably and safely.
Service Dogs Welcome: No Charge as Required by Law
Service animals play a crucial role in providing assistance to individuals with disabilities. At CampMD, we welcome service dogs as required by law. Here’s what you need to know:
-
No Charge for Service Animals: We do not charge any additional fees for guests bringing service dogs. It’s our commitment to comply with legal requirements and provide equal access to all individuals.
-
State of Maryland Regulations: The State of Maryland recognizes the importance of service animals and mandates equal access for individuals with disabilities. As per Maryland law, service animals are permitted to accompany individuals to any place where they have the right to be, and they are not subject to additional fees.
Understanding the Difference: Service Animals vs. Emotional Support Animals
It’s essential to distinguish between service animals and emotional support animals (ESAs). While service animals are trained to perform specific tasks for individuals with disabilities, emotional support animals provide comfort but do not undergo the same level of training.
Service Animals:
- Individually trained to perform tasks for persons with disabilities.
- Recognized by the ADA, with dogs and, in some circumstances, miniature horses considered as service animals.
- No additional charge, and they are allowed in areas where other animals may be restricted.
Emotional Support Animals:
- Not considered service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA.
- Do not perform tasks to assist people with disabilities.
- Subject to regular camp rules for pets, including fees, restrictions, and designated areas.
